The Bhajju Shyam Kyoto Executive Committee will publish "MORIBITO: The Keeper of Memories by Bhajju Shyam," an autobiographical picture book created from the narration and illustrations of world-renowned artist Bhajju Shyam, who hails from the Gond tribe of India, in July 2026. This work marks Bhajju Shyam's first picture book published in Japan, following his internationally acclaimed works such as "The Night Tree" published by Tara Books. To commemorate the publication of this book, a launch exhibition will be held at JR Kyoto Isetan (July 15th-21st), and a launch fair will be held at Daikanyama Tsutaya Bookstore (August 15th-September 6th). In addition, Bhajju Shyam himself is scheduled to visit Japan in conjunction with the launch exhibition at JR Kyoto Isetan. Furthermore, the short animated film "Bhajju Shyam: MORIBITO - The Keeper of Memories," which originated from this project, was nominated for the short film category at the 1st Japan-China International Animation Film Festival.
